چکیده

Chris Manzie, Harry Watson, Marimuthu Palaniswami Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering The University of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 3010 Abstract: Despite being one of the fastest growing alternative fuel sources, little attention has been given to control of the air fuel ratio at the point of combustion in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) engines. In this paper a mean value engine model is presented for LPG throttle body injected engines. Based on this model, a control algorithm capable of adapting to errors in both the fuel and air systems is proposed to ensure accurate stoichiometric fuel injection control. Simulation results are presented to validate the proposed approach. Copyright © 2002 IFAC

Optimization-based non-linear Control Law with Increased Robustness for Air Fuel Ratio Control in SI Engines

In spark ignition (SI) engines, the accurate control of air fuel ratio (AFR) in the stoichiometric value is required to reduce emission and fuel consumption. The wide operating range, the inherent nonlinearities and the modeling uncertainties of the engine system are the main difficulties arising in the design of AFR controller. In this paper, an optimization-based nonlinear control law is a...

Estimation of the Stoichiometric Air-Fuel Ratio in Liquefied Petroleum Gas-Injected Engines

Air-fuel ratio control in gasoline engines has so far relied upon the fact that the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio of gasoline is an identified constant, largely thanks to its consistent chemical composition. In the case of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), chemical composition is subject to high variability due to geological and economic factors, amongst others. The implication of this variability...

A Study on Application of Biogas as fuel in Compression Ignition Engines

Biogas derived from organic wastes is considered as good alternative to petroleum fuels. It can be used in compression ignition (CI) engines, because of its better mixing ability with air and clean burning nature. Biogas is produced by anaerobic digestion of various organic substances such as kitchen wastes, agricultural wastes, municipal solid wastes, cow dung etc., in absence of oxygen, which...

Modelling Combustion Variability in LPG Injected Engines for Improved Engine Performance at Idle

The variability of in-cylinder combustion of gasoline at idle has been investigated previously, culminating in the development of a model relating the past and future indicated torque deviations from the mean at given engine operating conditions of intake manifold pressure, engine speed and spark advance. The developed model has the potential to be used in an idle speed control algorithm to imp...
